Providing Quality Service for Over 75 Years

Founded in 1947 by Bob and Madge Leever, Leever Glass began as a small auto glass replacement business in Defiance, Ohio.  The company quickly expanded its services to include window and mirror replacement, laying the foundation for what would become a trusted name in glass and glazing across the region.

In 1948, their son Bill Leever joined the family business, marking the start of a multigenerational legacy.  By 1954, growing demand required a move from the original Bakery Building to the Harley Whitacre Building, enabling Leever Glass to broaden its offerings to include manufacturing storm windows and doors, aluminum awnings, and custom storefront fabrication.

When Bob and Madge retired in 1964, Bill took the reins and brought his sons John and Joe into the company.  Under their leadership, Leever Glass expanded its service area to northwest Ohio, northeast Indiana, and southern Michigan, completing projects for churches, colleges, high schools, historic restorations, and countless homes throughout the region.

In 1992, Joe Leever and longtime employee Toby Nagel assumed leadership.  The company continued to grow, taking on larger and more complex commercial projects while maintaining its commitment to local residential work.  A walk down nearly any block in Defiance reveals the lasting impact of Leever Glass installations.

In 2015, Joe retired, entrusting full ownership to Toby Nagel.  Toby's leadership guided the company through a new era of growth while preserving its reputation for craftsmanship and reliability.

A new chapter began in April 2023, when Jamie Shaffer became the sole owner of Leever Glass.  Jamie's journey is a true success story within the company: he began his career in 2000 as a laborer and over the years worked his way through nearly every role, from fabricator to estimator, before taking ownership.  His deep understanding of the business, combined with a passion for both honoring the company's heritage and embracing innovation, makes him an exceptional leader for this small but mighty team.
